Law for filmmakers and entrepreneurs

About Me

Hello, I’m Silvia

.

I am a licensed solicitor (England and Wales) and have been practicing entertainment law for 10 years.

I studied Law and French at Trinity College Dublin and Sciences Po Paris and graduated with a First Class Honours Degree. I then studied Legal and Political Theory at University College London and. Throughout my time at university I was awarded numerous awards and scholarships, such as a scholarship by the prestigious German Academic Scholarship Foundation as well as the Foundational Scholarship at Trinity College Dublin.

Following my studies, I trained in finance law at Clifford Chance LLP. In order to follow my passion for all things film and filmmaking, I joined Sheridans LLP in 2014 and started specialising in media and entertainment law. I then became an in-house film finance lawyer at the UK’s then biggest private film financing and investment company in the creative industries, Ingenious Media. In June 2019, I decided to quit my full-time job and become a freelancing lawyer and consultant. Since then I have helped numerous clients from all corners of the entertainment industry.

I love nothing more than helping my clients by clarifying and simplifying complex arrangements and using my experience to help them achieve their goals.

Apart from my passion for all things law and contract, I’m also a filmmaker. Alongside my employment at Ingenious Media I completed a course in documentary filmmaking at University College London and have since completed a couple of short documentaries as well as video editing and production jobs for clients. I am currently working on finishing a feature documentary and editing a book to accompany a short documentary I made a few years ago. As a filmmaker and solo entrepreneur, I know what it means to stand your ground when you’re negotiating with a potential business partner.

Since becoming a freelance lawyer and business consultant, I have helped producers, filmmakers, scriptwriters, financiers, solo entrepreneurs, writers, film finance clients, digital nomads, media investors, charities, business coaches, rightsholders, content creators, distributors and broadcasters. You can read more about my experience on LinkedIn and on this site, as well as my IMDB page.
